Character Bingo
Mark called characters on a 5×5 card

What is Character Bingo?
Character Bingo is a free online Mandarin game where kids mark Chinese characters on a 5×5 card as each one is called out by audio. It turns character recognition into a listen-and-find game: kids hear the word, scan their card, and tap to mark it. Works with any word list, from a single textbook lesson to a full review set.
In the classroom
Project the game on the board and hand each student a printed card (generate them free with our printable Bingo Card Generator). Let the game call characters by audio, or read them aloud yourself; first to a line shouts “Bingo.” Good as a warm-up or end-of-lesson review.
At home
Play on a tablet — the game says each character out loud, so your child practises recognising characters by sound, without you needing to read Chinese yourself.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Character Bingo free?
- Yes. The online game is free on classroom.bbchinese.com, and the matching printable cards are free to generate and download.
- Do students need to read Chinese to play?
- No. Every character is called out with audio, so kids play by ear and match the sound to the character on their card.
- Can I use my own word list?
- Yes. Pick any characters or words — one lesson, a theme, or a full review set — and the game builds cards from your list.
