Board Race

Teams roll the dice, answer first, and move only when they get it right. Questions ask them to read a word aloud, use it in a sentence, or do a task.

Write your own task cards. A wrong answer keeps the pawn where it is, and the first team to finish its laps wins.

What is Board Race?

Board Race is a free online Chinese classroom game. The class splits into teams that take turns rolling the dice. Each roll brings a question first: read a word aloud, make a word or sentence with it, or do a task the teacher wrote. A right answer moves the pawn by the number rolled. You choose the words, so it works for speaking practice and for review.

In the classroom

Put it on the projector and let each team send one student up to roll. The question pops up, the whole team answers together, and the teacher taps right or wrong. A right answer moves the pawn and a wrong one leaves it where it is until the next turn.

At home

It works at home too, with a parent and a child as the two teams. Rewrite the task cards for home, for example saying in Chinese what you had for dinner.
