What is Character games for Let's Learn Chinese (學華語向前走)?
These character games take the characters used by each lesson's vocabulary in the 學華語向前走 textbook series and connect them to the character-recognition games on Boba Chinese Classroom. The lists are compiled from the master vocabulary table published by the Overseas Community Affairs Council. Teachers and parents pick a lesson in the browser and play, without typing up flashcards or installing anything.
In the classroom
Before class, find this week's lesson, choose a game, and project it for the class to answer in turns. Each lesson's list is the characters its vocabulary uses, with the characters new to that lesson first and review characters after. After saving the lesson to My Portal you can also run it as a Live Lesson, with students joining on their own devices.
At home
For review at home, find the lesson your child is on this week and let them choose the game. Every character has audio, so a tap plays the pronunciation without an adult reading along.

- Which books are covered?
- K2 and Books 1 to 10, twelve lessons each, one word bank per lesson, matching the OCAC's master vocabulary table.
- Where do the character lists come from?
- The OCAC's published master vocabulary table lists each lesson's words. We compile the characters those words use into a word bank, with the characters new to the lesson first.
- Can I use Simplified characters?
- Yes. Switch the script in the page settings and the word banks and games follow.
- Is this affiliated with the OCAC?
- No. The word banks are compiled from the published vocabulary table and are not published by the Overseas Community Affairs Council.
